Background information

Astellia, since 2018 part of EXFO, is a vendor of a real-time monitoring and troubleshooting solution for mobile networks. Empowered by the DPI engine R&S®PACE 2, their unique solution optimizes networks end-to-end, from radio to core. In 2016, many mobile operators suddenly had to face the massive popularity of Pokémon Go, which surpassed the 100 million downloads within three weeks. Astellia needed to fulfill its customers’ demands to classify the traffic generated by this new gaming application. At that point, Astellia had already been a customer of ours for several years. We readily added Pokémon Go to the R&S®PACE 2 classification portfolio as a reliable partner within one week. This way, Astellia could provide their customers with insights into traffic generated by Pokémon Go, enabling them to react to this new kind of traffic and to provide their subscribers with an outstanding quality of experience.
