Protocol List

ipoque is able to detect traffic based on a combination of deep packet inspection (DPI) and behavioral analy­sis. The ipoque detection is very re­liable. It is impossi­ble to determine exact misclassifica­tion rates for real network traffic. Most of the protocols are proprietary. In theory it is possible to change the protocol so it can­not be detected any longer.

Every protocol provider has compatibility constraints so they are not fully free to change their protocol at will. On the other hand, there is no guarantee that the spe­cific protocol can be blocked in the future. In the past it took ipoque no more than four days to update a signature after a new version of a protocol had been released.
