Spotlight on Deep Packet Inspection
ipoque’s new white paper dispels some of the myths surrounding DPI, Net Neutrality, and Peer-to-Peer Encryption
Leipzig, September 2, 2009 – ipoque, the leading European vendor of Internet traffic management solutions, today published a new white paper, contributing to one of the most controversially discussed topics in the Internet community: Deep Packet Inspection. The document aims to clarify the technological background and cover major points surrounding the hotly debated issues behind Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). Starting with a definition of DPI, the white paper explores the DPI application and dispells some of the misconceptions surrounding “net neutrality” and privacy concerns. The potential impact of DPI applications on society is also considered.
“We believe it is a great opportunity for us to continue building awareness of DPI. As a vendor of DPI appliances, we want readers to understand this technology. Our purpose is to expell some of the myths and misunderstandings about this technology – for example, that DPI reads the content of all network packets,” says Klaus Mochalski, CEO of ipoque and co-author of the white paper.
