Leipzig, 30 March 2012 – Subscriber management in university networks is among the hot topics to be discussed at this year's Networkshop 40 exhibition in York, England, 3-5 April. ipoque's Traffic Manager products will be featured again this year.

The exhibition is intended for network managers and technical staff at Great Britain’s higher education institutions, among them ipoque customers such as the universities of Hull and York. Universities often have huge data rates and special requirements for their networking technology. Students in dorms connected to the university network expect reliable Internet connectivity; at the same time, they are heavy users of bandwidth-intensive services such as BBC iPlayer in Great Britain. As a result, overall network performance can be substantially degraded.

Networkshop 40 brings together expertise from all the fields of networking and provides a forum for discussion on the latest university network technologies. ipoque will be presenting its policy control technology and addressing major topics affecting the university IT market:

  • Enhancing user satisfaction through improved subscriber management services
  • Management of BBC iPlayer
  • How to handle network performance problems: discussion with Dr. Arthur Clune, Information Security Officer, University of York

“Before installing the ipoque solution,” says Dr. Clune, “we had serious problems both with congestion on our link to the Internet and with copyright violation notices caused by P2P file sharing. With ipoque’s PRX Traffic Manager, we have been able to shape and manage the traffic to solve both of these problems.
